I "stole" this hairdryer from my mom a few weeks ago to see if I`d want to buy it. ;-) Bottom line, I still don`t know.

I`ve got thick, wavy-straight hair that`s about to my shoulder blades, and it usually takes about 10 minutes to dry with my trusty, and discontinued, Braun Supervolume dryer.

The really cool thing about the Vortex is that it does indeed give the hair around your scalp volume, and it does dry relatively quickly. I discovered I could dry the top, clip it up, and allow the ends to dry naturally and wavy.

The pain-in-the-butt thing is that it is lousy for drying the ends. My Braun pretty much functions as a diffuser, with little air blowing around, while the Vortex has a ton of power--to blow the hair around and not allow you to concentrate it better.

So, I still don`t know. I think I`ll continue my hairdryer search for something that can dry ALL of my hair.

It is awesome!!!!!!!! It doesn`t fry my thick hair and it dries it much faster than my Philips did.

I LOVE the Vortex hair dryer. I have hair just like you, it`s curly, thick, brown and shoulder length. The remington does less damage, gives great volume, and you can also take off the diffuser if you need to focus the heat onto the ends of your hair. It is kinda bulky when you first start using it. When I took it out of the box and put it together I was like "WHOA! Stand back or I will zap you with my space laser gun!!" (hahaha) but I`m used to it now and love it. (when I use it, I have found that letting m y hair air dry allows more curl and less damage-although Thermasilk DEFINITELY helps protect hair.)
