My hair doesn't feel brittle but it looks brittle.  When it's wet I see little waves at the ends of my hair.  When my hair was 6 inches long I saw the same little waves.  I put it through a lot of drama with colors and relaxers.  It began to break rapidly.  I did a few protein treatments and it slowed down.  Then I cut it because the color at the root and the color at the ends were not matching.  I cut it to 2 inches.  Now it's all one color.  I relax my hair and I still see waves at the ends.  Is my hair dry?  Why is it like that? Is it unhealthy? Someone please help?

What is your hair type? When it is natural is it a 'z' pattern or the pattern of the waves you see? If the waves break off (you see them in the sink, etc) then it is probably brittle ? May be your relaxer or the relaxing technique is at fault.

Yea it might be your natural hair texture or it could be underprocessed hair...as long as your doing protein/moisture treatments and there is not excessive breakage then just slowly start cutting out those ends. HTH

Not a 'z' pattern is more of a circular curl pattern.  Like a spiral.  The spirals do break off but not alot.  They break off between styles. Some of it sheds and some of it breaks.  I haven't had a protein treatment in awhile. What should I do? Stop using relaxers, go to a professional.  My hair is really short now (check my fotki for pics) can I get weave installed and still have it look like mine? Or should I stick to braiding/protective styles?

Hey I didn't see a fotki album...you should do a med protein treatment on a weekly basis and a heavy one once per month. If you have done a heavy one this month you should do one and a good moisture treatment. And keep doing protective styles. HTH
