QuoteReplyTopic: So I want to make hair extensions.. Posted: February 28 2007 at 1:47pm
I have a beautiful wig with single strand remy hair and I want to cut it up and make hair extensions. Should I put it on hair tape? If so what is the best holding? Also, for really long staying power, should I just put it on something really thin and then liquid gold it to my hair? Any and all help would be appreciated.

first thing you need to know is that the hair is all going to be alined by the cuticle so it it is very important to keep it that way, would be a HUGE mess if you didn't. I think taking small sections, banding them with a small hair tie or rubber band and snipping off small sections that way would be the best way to ensure that you don't mess it up. then keep those small sections in those bands as you prepare the hair.... there is information on this site as well as hairextensions101.com which is run by sherrie about how to do pre-tipping or how to make your own wefts. i would check those out also. you do need someway to keep the hair aligned and keep it from falling out of the tape, i'd imagine there would be a LOT of shedding if you only used tape with loose hair.
