I used to have blonde hair.  Last september I decided to go brunette.  Instead of it turning brown, it turned a firey red. Again and again I tried dying my hair brown but he color never held.  So instead of wasting my money and time dying and dying my hair over and over again I just decided to let my hair grow out.  Is there any way to take the red color out of my hair so I don't have terrible roots.  Or is there a way to make my hair grow faster? Also, I have to be able to grow my hair out in the next 7 months or so and I have 4 inches longer than shoulder length hair.
Thanks sooooo much for any suggestions!!!!

You can use a color stripper in it or get highlights to get rid of the red.

I agree. Why not try something like colorfix to remove this haircolor. then you can try to color over with something more to your liking.
That is very odd though,I have never heard of some one trying to go brown and coming out with Bright red hair. What did you use on it? Was it permante or semi-permanate?

My friend used to dye her hair black, and she used something that didn't have a green base one time (probably had red or orange or something) and hers came out orange at the roots.  That's probably what happened to you.  You could try colorfix, that will take your hair to orange or yellow, then you'll have to dye over that, but since you want to stay a darker color, you may want to just try a brown lighter than the shade you want and make sure you get one with a green base to counter the red.  Test strand though, since you have dyed it so much, there is a good chance it will just come out black again...so the test strand will be all important to make sure you don't do your whole head if it isn't going to work.

First of all. What color of brown did u use?Ash gets the red out,but to be honest I wouldn't use an ash color.it tends to look dull. What skin tone do u have?I'm asking this to help u out better.U might have to get a darker shade of brown to cover up the red.I know that color over color doesn't always work.I know it does if u darkern hair.Cuz I have messed up plenty & had to darekern my hair.If u were blonde still trying to go red then it wouldn't work.It would turn pink, but in this case.U can color it a darker brown.Don't get a too dark color though.Cuz color turns out 1 - 2 shades darker than the box.If i were u, I just get a color & do it myself.Usually i tell people to go to a Salon, but this isn't that big of a deal.Just don't get a warm brown. That will make it have red or golden tones.I think a Neutral color would do.Have u heard of Loreal Brilliant Brunette? I can't spell it,lol. They have pretty browns.Try that & get back to me.Good luck!
