let me just start off..i am a MAN..may be i am on the wrong forum but i am sick of my hair and would like to do sth about it..i though i d start by changing the style of my hair..so please if any one could tell me what are the suitable cool cuts for my medium lenght hair..i always wanted to have that short dreadlock style and wouldn't do coz it really harm would harm the hair and takes a long time to develop wich i honestly dont have the commitment to do..so i was wondering if there is a method to achieve sth similar to that look but without actually have dread locks..i recently took a small section of my hair and wrapped around my finger very hard then wrapped around itself for days and when i realesed it this hair section or bundle was curled, i guess, closely tight and in the form of ringlets and then i kept twisting it from time to time...it kinda looked like a dread lock..i am not sure how to do it on all my hair..so if any body have any experience on how to achieve that look, please share...maybe with sites with pics for men hair sth similar to that look...steps...products...anything
i dont know how it will look one a 20 years old man, but i thought i would do it and and then see..also please share ur views on would be suitable for a 20 yrs old

I wasn't able to see the pics you gave links for, but I'll try to help anyway. An alternative for dreads is microbraids (lots of tiny braids all over your head, not cornrows). If I'm understanding you correctly, you did what is called a rope braid. You take 2 pieces of hair and twist them tightly, then wrap them around each other to form a rope. I've done my hair that way a couple times - about 30 or 40 tiny ropes. I like the look and feel of it. And when you take them all out, it looks really cool. You'd need help doing it though because it's hard to part the sections straight.

I use a comb, tiny hair bands (I believe they're silicone, not rubber - rubber will get tangled in your hair), and aloe vera gel. I only leave mine in for 2 or 3 days at a time. If you want them to last longer, you'll need a stronger gel, and maybe a braid-smoothing spray. You might look in the African hair care section at the store. I really don't know much about strong hold products. Just be careful not to use too much or put the bands too tight on the ends, because it'll cause your hair to break.
My sister helps me do mine. She parts the sections for me and gets the braid started, then I finish it as she starts the next one. It takes us about 3 hours because my hair is so long. (needless to say, I don't do my hair this way often!) For shorter hair, the time would be alot less.
Hey, I can see them now! Those are definitely just tightly coiled corkscrew ringlets. Someone asked about this - www.americancomb.com/products/coil.html - on the African hair care section a while back. I've never seen them or used them, but it looks pretty easy. If your curls are tight enough, that might work.
