I can't really tell cuz the pic's pretty dark but i see that ur top is still dippin HARD. just stick wit a med or even a hardy 4 that right

stick with those medium brushes they will bring that right side in, ya texture is still crazy kb.

It could be his texture. My cousin has hair just like that and for some reason
