QuoteReplyTopic: Blonde from a Box Posted: April 02 2007 at 2:01am
I have coloured my own hair from a box before, but I tend to shy away from it most often. It's not that it doesn't turn out well (I was actually very happy with the results) but I just usually go to a professional hair dresser. You all seem extremely knowledgeable on hair colour.
This is what my hair looks like as of now:
It's very faded and my roots are more visible than I would like.
This picture was taken the day of my original colour. I'm trying to get that tone, except ideally I would like to do it myself. Are there any recommendations for certain products? Or would I be better off shelling out the money to get it done professionally?
Also, are there any particular root touch-up products any of you would recommend?
Thank you in advance (=

I would recommend a champagne blonde, as thats what i would guess your colour looks like, in second pic. I only use the professtional hair colouring products, as I am a hairdresser, so I am not so clued up on the box colours, but seeing your colour in second pic, I would go for a champagne blonde. If you feel confident enough to do it yourself, give it a go, but as I am a hairdresser, I have got to say leave it to a pro.
I hope this helps a little. Karen

To be honest I think it looks fine, but if u do get it done I'd listen to Karen & get it done a champagne color. Also don't try it at home.U could mess it up.I'd hate to see your pretty hair ruined. Make sure u know a professional that can do what u want.Good luck!!

omg, I love how this looks on you. Our natural hair colors seem very similar too. I call it my blah ash dishwater blonde (which does nothing but just wash me out). Yeah, ditto what the previous posters said, because if you know this is specifically what you're going for, stick with the person who knows exactly what formula to get that finished look. She'll know exactly what toner to use (I imagine that's what you'll need for the fading you mentioned). And it seems like you'll also probably need some partial foil highlights done, just applied to the roots area though so as not to overprocess your current highlighted hair. I'm just guessing here though, so, yeah, stick with the hairdresser.
