I just had my hair done and I hate it. I had my hair naturally 7n hair dyed darker to a warm chocolate brown (probably a level 6) two weeks ago. It was one color and I felt like I was wearing a wig so I wanted it lighter. I had it lightned with the Goldwell hair color remover and it brought it up a level but even though my stylist tried toning it, it still looks warm and orange. She gave me a couple of highlights and they look yellow. I am planning on going somewhere else and going blonde but until then I want to cover this up so I can live with it until my hair groes out a bit so I can see my natural hair color. The past few weeks have been total hell, from having a bothched hair cut to now having aweful hair color! What should I do? If anyone knows of a half way decent hairstylist near Syracuse NY, please let me know (I am willing to travel)! Thanks again for any advice!!

If you're going blonde I wouldnt mess with the color anymore until then. Going blonde can be somewhat damaging,and you dont want to pile on more color to have to be lightened.
Cant you just have it dyed blond sooner?

You don't have to wait -- you can have it fixed immediately. I had a horrible trio of VERY DARK colors put into my hair one time -- I looked rocker Goth, which is not what I was going for AT ALL. I went back and my colorist took me RIGHT BACK to very light blonde with no problem whatsoever.

Alayney is right your stylist should just take you to blonde. It is fairly easy to do these days,depending on how dark the hair is to get it blonde in one step.

yeah, leave your hair alone.
 
Blonding is very damaging, so do not try to do more harm to your hair now. Wear a hat or wig or something :P

I do disagree with you ^^. It IS very damaging but if it's done properly and the person takes care of their hair it can look great. I've been doing it for a long long time now and my hair looks healthy -- no breakage, just smooth, shiny hair. Smile

Alayney,she was talking about trying to cover up the color BEFORE going blonde though. My point is that adding anymore color will make it that much harder to go lighter,thus causing more damage.
If her color looks orangey,as she said in her post,then it seems to me the problem is the stylist didnt take her light enough to get to a blonde color. She simply needs to have it relightened.Then if it is still orangey,a possible ash color toner may help.

Thanks for all of the advice! I decided to go blonde and I had my hair bleached. I made a HUGE mistake! The stylists where I live cannot do color!!!!I did my research and went to stylists who were "experts". I paid over $400 in the past few weeks and I am still unhappy. My hair was bleached, then toned, then lowlighted. My scalp was burned from the bleach, my hair is still too yellow, and my lowlights are brassy in spots and there are a few places where the color didn't deposit as well as places where the color wasn't placed close to the root and it looks horrible. I am staying away from chemicals for a while and then I am not sure if I want to deposit color on my hair myself or have yet another stylist give me lowlights. My overall goal right now is to grow out my natural haircolor (7N) and just have a few highlights. I have no idea what to do. I am so angry that there are so many so called professional stylist that have been doing hair and still have no clue! I wish there were higher standards and qualifying tests for hair stylist since it is a very difficult science (chemistry). For now I just give up! I should have just gone to NYC in the first place. Alyssa, I'm SO SO sorry!!! I wish too that people doing color were held to higher standards.
