QuoteReplyTopic: What are good vitamins to take for hair? Posted: April 25 2007 at 5:46am
or any other kind of pill?? Since my hair is not so wonderful I wanna start on some good kinds of vitamins or something that might help my hair when it starts to regrow! thanks! :-)
iron is also very good for it. I'm seeing a dermatologist soon during my trip to Mayo Clinic for all my heath issues, so I'll ask them whats good - if anyone will know a dermatologist at Mayo will!!

There are vitamins in the HB store (for hair) here on the forum!! I was reading on another board(think it was for thinning hair) and very good reviews!! I want to try them as well!!!!! I guess you take like 6 or so a day at differernt times and it has everything in them!!! (all the good stuff I read about for hair) and there is a hair 37 formula or something like that to? if you do some research you will find it.... btw.. what did you end up doing with your hair? also I have read MSM is very good!!! (taking that now) and of course biotin, saw palmento (sp) , horse tail, there are tons of stuff that you can try!!!
Malibu, I read you have to be careful with iron too!! was reading that the vitamins sold in the HB store have less iron then the forumula 37 (boy I hope I have that right) anyway I think Karen makes them??? or something like that! and they are never any older then 2 weeks when they ship them. and has everything!!!! for hair skin nails, etc... I want to try them!!! there not cheap!!! but can't put a price on beautiful hair, skin and nails!!!!

You do need to be careful with iron, and you also need to be careful with prenatals because of their high amount of iron... Recent studies I've both hread and heard abot however are suggesting that the reccemended daily amount of iron is greatly under estimated for most demographics.
Still haven't gotten into the dermatologist here - so many freaking appointments, they have me scheduled for two weeks after I'm supposed to leave even! But hopefully will see them tomarrow.

Me, I have to be extra careful with iron. I have hyperanemia, which is too much iron in my blood. It can be even more dangerous than hypoanemia. I have to buy special vitamins without iron in them and not eat too much spinach!
Here's to the end of my BAD HAIR LIFE!

Also dont forget, getting NATURAL vitamins in your system is the best- as in Iron- in green leafy foods-etc. Natural forms are best. DO YOUR RESEARCH FIRST, check w/your DR as well- If you take too much of something you can poison your system!!!
i take a 'womens' multi vitamin, and a MSM supplement (actually i take the msm/glucosamine for joint health), and an extra calcium supplement....that along with no more bleach and my own hair 'protected' under extensions away from the heat tools and my hair has gotten MUCH better over the last year (i was surprised myself with my last takedown!)

Hey Nursie I take the MSM also, I bought it for my hair!! I read about it on another board and when people would ask the Dr. how to thicken or grow hair he would always say take MSM So I thought what the heck!! I'll try anything!!! then when I looked on the bottle it said for joints and because I just had ACL reconstruction surgery thought hey this will work for that too! but of course hair was first!! (thats bad)
But I had a funny thought yesterday when I took out my hair... I have battled bad scalp for years and because I was used to my fine hair I didn't think that much of it, (it didn't even seem that fine) plus along with all the bleaching blow drying, curling etc I did to my hair I don't even know how I had hair!!! S o anyway my thoughts is I actually pay more attention to the needs and condition of my hair having extensions... yes when we take them out we feel bald! but it does make us pay more attention to our hair and what we are doing to it!! (I have never inspected my scalp and hair like I do now) but I am no longer bleaching it, I only try to curl the extensions and I am much more careful when brushing it and of course I have been addressing the scalp issue!! so thanks to feeling bald when I take them out I have been taking better care of my hair and scalp needs!!!

i definately have had the same experience Rocket, when i first got interested in 'faking it', getting the extensions on was first priority....but i quickly got interested in what i should be doing to my own hair underneath....for me it's just been a whole lot easier to really care for my hair (even if every so often i get impatient during takedowns!)...when it was just me being unhappy with my much less than perfect hair i would end up doing SOMETHING to my hair every month or so
Well I take MSM, and also Green tea (but thats for another reason though LOL) But as the ladies mentioned, with anything do your research before taking the vitamins.
thanks for the replies everyone!! I actually already have to take iron because I am really anemic cuz otherwise all i do it SLEEP! lol..sounds fun i know, but it takes away all of my energy if I dont take them. I have also been taken this B vitamin..my bf is premed, so he has helped me/researched for me some things to take and makes sure i take them hahaha, i guess he doesnt want a bald girlfriend forever! lol :-)
