okay. my hair is driiving me BONKERS!
It`s about 2 inches long, all one length and is jsut starting to do that mullet thing where i cant do anything with it anymore... but i want to grow it out as much as i can so i dont want to cut any off....
So here`s what I`m thinking...
I usually wear it with the front slicked down and held with a tiny clippy and the back poofed up as much as i can get it...
What are ya`ll`s takes on perms on short hair?
I just want a poofball :)
I have a square face,a nd i`m not afraid to do ANYTHING to my hair (hell, i shaved it one time :))

anyway, i just want to hear your input :)
thanks!

Generally, with a square face, the goal is to soften the jawline and minimize the brow. Hairstyles that emphasize the cheekbones mid-line of the face are most flattering. Bangs and waves at the temple also soften the square. Usually, your best styles are with hair swinging forward onto the face to reduce the angles. Hair length is best about 1-2 inches below the chin, or extending to shoulder length to reduce and soften the squareness of your jaw. Hair worn on the forehead is always perfect for you, as long as it is wispy or fringed (You usually shouldn`t wear straight bangs.) Hair turned under at the bottom also will narrow the width of the jaw. Styles in loose curls and waves add extra dimension to the square face. Styles that round out your hair can decrease the appearance of a square face shape. Adding curl, angled or wispy bangs, and a few wisps on the cheek area will all help. A cut that allows for some height is also a good idea. Wear a side part as opposed to a center part. Remember: Avoid straight bangs and hanging hair. In short, the 5047 style will work for you. Good luck!!

:) just a thought...
i just trimmed the ends and it`s kinking up again like i wanted it to :)
i just thought since i didnt want to cut my hair, a perm would do it (give me more texture)... then i called my friend who;s in cosmetology school and she threatened to beat me to a pulp with a curling iron if i ever came near perm solution (needless to say, i like NOT being a pulp, so I found another way)
ANyway, got some highlights trimmed it up, now i`m happy again! yay!

and no duke, i`d rather not shave my head :D i got weird looks walking down 6th street in austin! (that and my head is goingto het too cold now that its nearing winter :)

Hi Stephanie,

First, I think short curly hair is a fantastic look! If you have only two inches of hair to work with though, I think you friend gives sound advice to stay away from a perm ... although clubbing you with a curling iron might be extreme :-).

As long as you are happy with it now wait until you have 4-6 inches and go for a perm on white and/or larger rods to get some defined curl but still wavy. From there the options with various size curling irons and hot rollers are many if you want to soften it or pump it up!

Check out the short curly styles on this website for some ideas (curly styles page 5). A few years ago I did something just like the jpg attached and LOVED IT. I`m growing out right now to "do it" again! The perm was no problem for my hair ... I`d say the perm formulas have come a long way in the past decade!

Good luck and happy curls!
