Would/do any of you get hair extensions from a beauty-like store?
Does bonding extensions (with the gold bond glue or whatever) damage hair at all? Is it damaging to take them out?
How long can wear them if glued in?
I ask cuz I think I'm gonna bite the bullet and just do it. I'm so bored of my shorter hair.My husband saw how to put them in online and says it looks easy and he will help me. Also, you cant blow dry extensions can you? And,is hair that says"like human hair" ok to use? Or is the real thing what I should use. Appreciated!

Spend plenty of time researching the various methods and decide which is right for you. Ask tons of questions, the ladies here will jump in and answer any question you may have!
Yes you can buy hair and some extensions supplies at the beauty supply stores. But many of them dont carry some of the better brands/types of hair or much variety of extensions supplies. So I think most people are buying online from some of the various vendors.
Damage depends on a few things. If your hair is already in poor condtion extensions can add to breaking/damage. And if extensions arent applied properly or removed carefully that can also lead to damage. If the extensions are applied correctly and removed carefully they should cause little to no damage. Many people have grown their hair out successfully while using extensions, others claim that their hair is thinner or worse than before.
There are several methods that are simple enough for a DIYer to do, and if you have help thats even better! The LG (liquid gold) is easy enough to do, its a little messy as the glue can be stringy, but simple to do. Another easy method is using extended wear tape, like protac, supertape or also called by a few other names. This in my opinion is one of the simpliest methods for a first time DIYer. You can expect anywhere for 3-6 weeks average out of these methods, and it really just varies with the individual.
Synthetic hair is ok for some, in fact some people LOVE it while others absolutely hate it. I think its just an individual preference. Each have their pros/cons.
I agree with sherrie, and if you are a true DIY, I recommend synth to start off with, if you butcher it you don't feel bad. Don't buy the really cheap Beauty supply synth, Wawa or above. I know you may not like the feel of the wawa but it's better to get synth, learn what you like and butcher it than to buy 250 in human and butcher it and cry..yes that was me. So if you don't want synth, don't have experience in cutting it, go pay to have it cut by a reputable extension (I stress extension) hair cutter.

Oh and there are no dumb question. It is best to be informed and know how you should care for it so you don't cause a disaster. I live in a weird neighborhood that carries good brands of real hair but I am a synth girl. Don't feel bad or asking many questions. Look up everything you can.

Thanks valentine, there is a really huge beauty store here and they have so many different kinds of hair there, wigs, extensions and hair pieces. I think it is synth cuz it says"Like" human hair, although they may have some real too. I wanted to find out more before I bought anything though first.
julesyjul i still think you are being impatient with your own very healthy (albeit too short for you) hair!!
but if you are going to venture forth at least you have a good shop where you can actually touch the hair :)

I know Nursie,I definitely am being impatient. It's just summer is around the corner and I think my hair will look stupid when I go swimming and stuff like this. I wasnt planning on doing them all the time from now on. Just maybe for a few months (like 3) until it looks a little better.
