My hair feels, well sort of hard. Like straws. I feel it especially at night when I try to sleep. I really don't know how to describe the feeling. What can I do about this?

My hair is longer then it has been in years. Also my throat and neck has been itching more and more. Can it be related to my hair being longer??

Your hair and skin are really dry, that's probably why you're experiencing discomfort. Feeling itchy around the neck area is most likely due to your hair getting longer. I suggest you hydrate yourself better internally and externally; drink plenty of water, moisturize, and use a thick conditioner when you wash your hair. Conditioners will definitely make it softer and it won't be so dry and uncomfortable.

Do you have coarse hair? I agree that your hair is probably dry. Have you tried using a richer conditioner or oiling it?
I have long hair and it usually stays behind my shoulders, but whenever it falls in the front it does itch my neck some. That's just the way it is. IF it bothers me I just put it up. If the itching keeps you from falling asleep at night, you can always put it in a braid before bed. I either do that or a loose bun on the top of my head. If I do a low bun then it creates a huge uncomfortable bump. Braiding it at night will also keep it from tangling while you sleep as your hair gets longer, which saves you from having to rip the knots out in the morning.

Yes,when my hair was really long and bleached,it was very dry and itched me. Not only did it bother me,but if it touched my husband he said it made him feel itchy too.
Deep conditioning should help some.Try adding something to smooth the hair down as well.Frizz EASE helps alot.

Hmmm, as long as I've had long hair, I can't say it ever made my neck itchy.  I would not necessarily consider this normal.  Perhaps its an allergy?  Or a problem with yeast growth on the skin made worse by your hair being on your neck and helping to hold in sweat and moisture?  Or maybe you are allergic to the conditioner you use and that is what's making your neck itch?
