Short curly, thick hair. What should i do with it?

Hey i'm 17 and just have never known what i want doing with my hair or liked my hair. It just seems to be so abnormal and different that I don't have any idea what to do with it.

I normally have it cut periodically about every 6 weeks, by which time it has grown into a giant frizz poof :P. I have tried styling it a bit but i'm never sure what exactly to do with it.

Any suggestions and opinions on my hair? I'm looking for something kinda messy looking, but without the frizz, kinda more "clumpy and shiny if you know what i mean.  Sorry if this all seems a bit lame its just it kinda gets me down so i have decided to try and do something about it.

I don't really mind it too much here, but its still not quite right and the wetness makes it look a bit better (it was raining).

Hard to see on this one as you can only see the tips of my hair but its straightened so i thought id include it(Took ages to get it straight and ended up using about half a large can of a girlfriends tres emme hair spray :P)
