So, can anyone help me with ideas about how to use my own saved long hair for new hair extensions? I mean , i cut my hair short. I can't seem to quit cutting it! Cry I want to make extensions out of my hair that I saved, they are long & shorter pieces. I have mixed European American virgin hair, medium fine and coarse mixed textures.  I think extensions would keep my hands off my scissors cuz they would be covering up what I keep wanting to cut. The reason I cut is dissatisfaction.  So covering it with something much nicer would be the alternative. Til it has grown out several inches. My hair is currently about 2.5-3 or 3.5 inches long.  Thanks in advance.

Well, correct me if I'm wrong but, I have always been told that hair extensions are harsh on your scalp and the rest of your exsisting hair. Why don't you just grow it back out? Sure, it takes time but you can have fun while you are waiting! There are great sites you can visit, and talk to other people that are in the same postion as you are. You can also create hair journals, and record what you are feeling each day.

Listen, I know from expierence that it IS hard to grow hair back out and I know how much you want your hair back after you cut it.

Back in November, I cut my waist lenght hair..up to my shoulders. I regreted it..and cried for a looong time. So I just stopped taking care of it, well in February I decided that I was going to grow it back out and keep it nice and healthy.

My hair went from shoulder lenght to mid-back lenght in just 7 months! The only thing you have to do is be patient.

Sorry, if I'm no help.

I've been trying to stop cutting it for 4 + years. But thanks anyway. you do have a good suggestion about hair blogs. i think i do need something like that, and supportiveness. but only prayer and a miracle will make it grow as fast as you seem to have done with yours.

Well, I didn't grow it all that fast without taking multi-vitamin pills, boitin pills, umm lets see..poos + condish made especially for hair growing. I had to start eating much better, exercise, etc etc.

Trust me it wasnt easy, I guess you just have to have the patience and dedication. I am a hair freak, and I think I might even over obsess when it comes to my hair.

But eh? Growing long hair isn't for everyone.

Sorry I wasn't much help, and good luck to you with the extensions [if you get them].

Yes you can make extensions or a custom hair system using your own hair! You will loose about 3 inches when it is tied into a base or a weft but you can definately use it. Try customhairpiece.com

If you cut it off because you were dissatisfied, then you want to make it into extensions to cover your hair with "something much nicer", you would be using the same hair you were dissatisfied with the first time, no?  That doesn't make much sense, so what about your original hair dissatisfied you?
Maybe we could help you with that.  I know the feeling of just doing something to it because you are bored, I've been there, but we do often regret it when we do things like that!
