New York Mets Outfielder In Trouble Over Rap Lyrics
New York Mets prospect Lastings Milledge is in hot water with his baseball team for releasing a rap song that the team says uses foul and offensive language. In a song called "Bend Ya Knees," the outfielder raps alongside labelmate Manny D and can be heard using the "N" word and sexually explicit lyrics, which the Mets do not approve of. "We don't approve of the lyrics," New York GM Omar Minaya said Wednesday (May 16). Minaya said he spoke to Milledge -- currently at Class AAA New Orleans -- and conveyed the team's position. Minaya said no disciplinary action had been taken, but added that could change. "We're going to review the conversation and we'll go from there," he said. "He's understanding why we feel that way." The track appeared on the website for Soul-ja Boi Records, the label 22-year-old Milledge founded, but was removed from the website Wednesday.
