QuoteReplyTopic: Roller Wrap your way to Healthier Hair Posted: June 01 2007 at 8:05am
Hey ALL!
I just wanted to share my experience with getting a roller wrap.
I bought a pair of CHI irons about 1 year ago. They are great irons, but will damage your hair if used often. It seemed like I just couldn't get the length I kept trying to achieve. Every time I went to the stylist she said I was burning my hair out and then she'd cut off about an inch. So, for about the last couple of months I've reduced using my Chi irons from 4 times a month to once a month and doing roller wraps in between. I can definitely see the difference in my ends. I don't have as many split and frizzy ends as I used to. Meaning I don't have to get my ends clipped as often and my hair can now grow much longer.
This process started to get dang pricey! I was paying $45 a week to get a roller wrap! Then I found this Cosmetology School next to my house that charges $12 for wash/deep conditioning and a roller wrap! It's called Empire Beauty School. If their isn't one in your area I"m sure there are other beauty schools that offer inexpensive hair/skin/nail services. Now I will definitely see my regular stylist for touch-ups, but I will continue to see them for basic hair dos! You can't go wrong with a roller wrap! Does any one else do this?
Roller Wrap. 1. Shampoo hair 2. Apply Conditioner for 15-15 with plastic cap under heated dryer 4. Wash conditioner with cool water 5. Apply your favorite setting lotion or foam 6. Roll Hair with Plastic rollers of your diameter preference 7. Sit under the dryer until it's dry (mine takes 45 minutes 8. Remove rollers then wrap hair with a wrap brush 9. Put a wrap cap on your head then go back under the dryer for 15 minutes 10. remove wrap cap then style
This is what I get done. Those instructions are just a general idea of how it's done. I wish I could do this MYSELF!
Ciao

Then you'd be a good candidate. Check out the Curly Hair Gallery and see if you like any of those. When I first get my rollers taken out, my hair is pretty big. But by the time I get home it's fallen a little and has a lot of body. It last about 5 days for me.
Do you have a photo of your hair type?

i dont really know what my hair type is. When I was little, i had ringlet curls, but usually its sorta wavy/curly if I let it dry naturally. does tend to get frizzy if i dont put some sort of taming products, but it pretty much does what i want it to and stays put like good little hairs.

Staying put is nice! Hey, take a look at this link. It's a mannequin, but you may have the same hair type. This is generally what it will look like rolled then taken down. Let me know what you think.
I think the process for your hair is a little different than mine. Since my hair is thick, it's rolled while wet with setting lotion to make the curls smoother instead of big course curls. Do you frequent any salon?

Ive been doing roller wraps exclusively for the past 8 months or so, and my hair is the healthiest that its ever been. I learned how to rollerset myself after looking at lots of fotkis and tutorials that had them. My hair is thanking me for them, too.

yes, roller wrapping is awesome! Iv been doing it for about 1 and 1/2 years and my hair got super healthy. Going to a beauty school is a great idea. I do my own-saves a ton of time and money( shoo-even saving 12 dollars really helps me out, lol). I have a roller setting tutorial on my fotki and on my blog www.healthytextures.com. I posted it on the site some time ago too.
