QuoteReplyTopic: Should I give up? Color Advice for Newbie Posted: June 06 2007 at 1:21pm
Hi all - Please help, I'm so frustrated! My hair is naturally dark ash blonde. I've been getting my base lightened to a nice golden blonde with subtle highlights for many years. I decided I wanted a light golden brown about 4 months ago and my stylist applied color all over and added low lights. It looked great for about a week and then became an awful ash/mouse brown/blonde. I've had it done 2 times since and the color just keeps coming out. She says eventually we'll get it to what I want, it's just going to take awhile.
Is there anything I can do to make it look better in between colorings or should I just give up and go back to blonde? I've researched toners, glazes and color depositing shampoos, but I get overwhelmed. I tried John Frieda Color Glaze in Chestnut to Espresso and it does make my hair warmer but it's a little heavy.
Maybe I need a new stylist? I'm so confused! Any advice is helpful - thanks!!

the reason why the color never takes is because you need to use permanent color..then it would take until the hair grows out...as far as a new stylist..i am in the same boat as you..i have someone i have been going to for 6 months but it seems we don't see eye to eye..i am thinking two times unsatisfied and then yes its time to move on
Hi, I am a hairdresser and i have to say..... It takes alot to get color to stick to blonde hair. When you have put that golden blonde on your hair, its basically bleaching it up, and to get color to stick to it could take some time. I dont think you should switch stylist, i think you should suggest filling your hair first, if she doesnt know about that then tell her to research it for you.
It is putting all the colors back into your blonde hair to make a natural color brown and to make the darker color stick.
My mom had that same problem and she used some of my ARTec conditioner to warm it up a bit. It's available in many colors and you can get it online or at a lot of beauty stores (i.e. beauty brands).
i agree with juliab, you need a filler when i went from blonde to a light brown i used Colorful Professional Protein Filler #2 Warm Brown it worked really good the color came out nice and even.
