I just did a strand test on my hair (I currently have light brown roots and the rest is a medium blonde from highlighting).  The strand test took 40 minutes to reach a nice light blonde color, but roots were slightly darker.  Package says to definitely use on roots last due to heat from scalp lightening the roots faster.  Does this apply to me since I have darker roots to begin with?  It also said to wait until the ends turned pumpkin orange to apply to root, but my strand test never turned pumpkin color!!  Sorry, but I dye my hair quite often, but never bleach myself.  Salons  in Vegas are toooo expensive (last salon tried charging me $250 for highlight and cut)  and I want to be able to figure this out so I can do this myself all the time!!  Husband loves blonde---he shouldn't have married an italian!

I used this dye yesterday.  I have blonde highlights on brunette hair - I've dyed my hair for years so who knows what is real now.  I used the Blonde Maxi on my routs since it cautions not to use on previously chemically treated hair - I got impatient and took it out when I saw a bright yellow - (I took it out to early).  I should have waited for the pale yellow stage - now I'm debatting if I should use the Blonde Maxi again on the roots and finish the process to pale yellow and then put in a semi permanent champagne blonde to even out the color?  This is a mess and I did this because after several years of telling my hair dresser I didn't want red roots - she still continues to say we are working on it and she just can't quite figure it out.  The other thought I'm having is how do I maintain this hair once I get it right?  I would think I would just touch up the roots every 4-6 weeks and then tone with a semi permanent color?  This is a commitment to high maintenance and can be very drying on the hair.

i've used born blonde hair dye for years. i usually go back and forth from professional process or at home, myself... i dont know why your roots would be darker. other than its too long, cause the root closest to your scalp would be lighter because of the heat, and anything further down would be darker, demarcation line,
also, 40 minutes... my hair is a level 3 dark brown to black, and 40 minutes with this born blonde takes me to a pale blonde, white blonde, ur hair im sure is lighter than mine, i should be lifting a whole lot faster... maybe your hair has some resistance to it, stubborn spots, my sister always has this problem...
