I don't think your head size would hinder you from doing any technique.Big%20smile
yes, you'll need pre-tipped hair. do you want to pre-tip them yourself or would you rather buy them pre-tipped?

With hair (depending on length and texture), technique (glue, links, shrinks or wefts) and iron, it's going to cost you $150-$200.
  Are you game?

I am. Talk to me. Is it actually possible to do your own?

We do it all the time. Pick a technique. Read this to start. It'll give you a good idea of what you want to try first and we'll go from there. http://talk.hairboutique.com//forum_posts.asp?TID=30346

If the maintainance means taking them all out and starting fresh from the scalp, than $400 for a full head is not bad.  I charge around $400 (not including hair) for a full head because it takes around 4-5 hours.

I never agreed with the Hairlocs 'maintance' for just sliding up the locs.  That's the fastest way to damage your hair.

Metalgirl, $400 for a full head is an excellent price. How much does the hair usually cost?

I usually order hair from www.short2long.com and the hair runs between $120-300, depending on the length and the number of strands.  As I said before, I do not mark up the price of the hair, I only get paid for the application.

I just found a girl who does short 2 long and we ordered the hair yesterday, I tried to find the catalog online but I couldn't. we ordered 3 packs of the 16 inch on the first hair listed in the catalog and it came tp $166. If you use the hair is it good hair? I was going to go for the russian but my stylist said this hair was good as well and cheaper.

She has been doing this method for about a year, she has done hair extensions for about 7 years.

I'm not trying to find fault or anything but how can she only charge you $150. How many hours did she tell you it would take? Is this for a FULL head of extensions? It sounds more like the price for highlights.

I guess becaue I just had alot of work done from her recently and we are not doing a full head I have pretty decent thickness to my hair so we are just adding some length. She charges $250 for a full head.

Short 2 Long now carries russian hair in the I-tip.  I just placed an order for some.  It takes two weeks for delivery, though,  but they custom blend it.
