"May The Great Spirit keep all of them close for all of eternity"

I spoke these words in class at a pretegious "university"!!!all but 3 or 4 were outraged supposedly at my insensitivity.

Why? well, as I continued to express my condolences, I was certain to include Seung-Hui Cho, who fell victim as well., to his own untreated instability and confusion.
Victim to what we created, by our actions and inaction.  Hitler was of humankinds making.
Well of course I did not say all of this in class about Hitler, but those are my thoughts here in this forum.

"No man is an island, entire of itself, every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main.  If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friend's or of thine own were: any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee."

Cho was a victim, and may his soul be at peace.
Social services may have failed him, his university may have failed him, and our bureaucracy certainly did fail everyone this tragedy touched.

I feel sad for all those victimized, hurt, and killed.

I can hardly bare to think of the true crux of the problem.

Why did my classmates get mad at me?

Hey Anomis
Thanks for this cool link, I am new here but I too love poetry, and hip hop!!!

Do you like Shakespear? My boyfriend is a writer, and I am encouraging him to share his work with others.

I can identify with why some people would think you were being insensitive, but I agree that the shooter was a very sick person who needed help, maybe it was how you delivered your sentaments to your class???

Man I'm tired of rich people always looking down on everybody who doesn't have the status that they have, God is going to bless them one day and take away all their worldly possesions then we will see how they like being the one being looked down on. Things like that can make a very calm depressed person into a violent and aggressive one, we need a balance of power too much power goes to Paris Hilton???

Hey
had some tech probs,,,,got it together, and now it's poppin.

jamaicakid85  I have appreciation for where u are comin from. Tolerance is the jewel. Folks can not see whats going on d/t a lack of tolerance....forgive me for soap boxin'  but  we not only are intolerant race, sex, sex pref, relig, we are not tolerant of folks that have natural,  organic, or "nurtural" psychological/ mental illness.

reason I love hip / hop negroes often (atleast I know I do) use it for therapy, there is something about hearing someone else say what we are thinking that is quite therapeutic for us  !!

Gospel Truth
Listen to Brendas got a baby and see if you don't SEE where he is comin from.....I can not dwell on it, but I sure as hell ain't empty enough to never think about it.

therapy baby.... and it's not 100$ hrly per lick like a psychiatrist ...know whuameen?

Tellem like it is.
What made you chose that state to reside in?
You relocating soon, or have you simply acclimated to it....but honesty Chi-town is  jus like that in certain areas....I always say that I am the answer to the lack of diversity in my university, and residential district.....lol

I dealt with racism/ sexism / economic prejudice in Chi as well as STL.
cant escape it,, so I represent........

no matter how much charity work she does, money donations, it's a bandaid on the critical condition in so far as "justice is concerned"
she shot the sheriff, and the deputy, and now she has only a history of having recovered in a mental institution....so what doe that let me know

Justice is for the rich....as  plastic surgery is to the aging porn stars......the law  is a joke...it can be bought and gottdamned sold  to the highest bidder.
shameless, and I only partially hold her accountable...  Revolutionary Suicide!

The People of America need to RAISE the hell on up collectively and say
WE ARE MAD AS HELL AND WE AIN'T GONE TAKE IT ANYMORE" but until we do collectively we perpetuate the damn problem...u see, we all have ourselves to thank

Did you read about the dude who fought the IRS, and won...supposedly he did not pay taxes, b/c there is no law stating that income is legally taxed....I am still in the lab sorting thru the info....but what would happen if everyone dropped the ball 4/16/08? Anarchy....There are certain pros like DRs and Nurs and lawyrs that can not practice if they are found to have not paid there taxes????

What do you all think?

Read Revolutionary Suicide by Huey P. Newton

Revolutionary Suicide

By Huey P. Newton

So many of my comrades are gone now. Some tight partners, crime partners, and brothers off the block are begging on the street. Others are in asylum, penitentiary, or grave. They are all suicides of one kind of another who had the sensitivity and tragic imagination to see the oppression. Some overcame; they are the revolutionary suicides. Others were reactionary suicides who either overestimated or underestimated the enemy, but in any case were powerless to change their conception of the oppressor.

The differences lies in hope and desire. By hoping and desiring, the revolutionary suicide chooses life; he is, in the words of Nietzsche, "an arrow of longing for another shore." Both suicides despise tyranny, but the revolutionary is both a great despiser and a great adorer who longs for another shore.

The reactionary suicide must learn, as his brother the revolutionary has learned, that the desert is not a circle. It is a spiral. When we have passed through the desert, nothing will be the same.

You cannot bare your throat to the murderer. As George Jackson said, you must defend yourself and take the dragon position as in karate and make the front kick and the back kick when you are surrounded. You do not beg because your enemy comes with the butcher knife and the hatchet in the other. "He will not become a Buddhist over night."
