I am doing a project for science: testing how well gel, mousse, aerosol spray, and spritz spray hold hair compared to each other. I need some information about ingredients (i.e. "dual polymer complex", "PVP/VA copolymer", "hydrofluorocarbon 152A, "octylacrylamide/acrylates/butylaminoethyl"... ?) -- basically, what ingredients make hair products differ from each other? And how? From sites like about.com I`ve gotten general info such as, gels are usually stronger than mousse, but I need specifics. Any help? Please let me know! :)
I can`t say offhand, but I can refer you to an *excellent* source (although I don`t know what others on this site think of it). Anyway, it`s a book by Paula Begoun entitled "Don`t go shopping for hair care products without me". As I recall, she does an excellent job of breaking her commentaries down with specific comments on various ingredients. I believe she also has a website (cosmeticscop.com)(I think - you could do a search if that`s not right), where you could post her your question. I`m sure she`d have a good reference for you!
