Hey, basically I had black hair and I've decided to go back to blond, it's taken about a month of occasional bleaching and semi permenant pink hair dye (I fancied a change along the way), but I'm ALMOST there. It's quite dry today cus I bleached it twice yesterday (though it was silky soft before that), but anyway, I'm gonna give it a week or two of intense conditioningbefore evening out the (STILL) darker ends, but when I do, it'll all be a light yellow colour (my roots are stupidly light atm, obvious).

But, the problem is, now it's so light, an ash blond toner (which i tried yesterday aswell), wont even touch it. Mainly cus it's got nothing to tone - so basically, I need to put ash blond pigments into my hair, however I'm aware thatr using a permenant box dye from a drug store will result in this going a greeny muddy colour. So my question is, what can I use to end up with a nice sandy ash blond?

Would a regular semi permenant box dye do it? If so what shade would I need as I'll need to put pigments in, etc.

Get your stuff at a beauty supply shop, or if you can't, call the company that makes your boxed dyes.  They will usually give you some advice.  I suspect you need a darker shade of blonde (because your hair is now very porous and it will fade to lighter right away) and you need one with a violet base because I suspect your hair is pale to darker yellow right now.  If its not yellow, you may need something else.  Either way, you can tell them when you're on the phone with them and ask them what they recommend for their specific dyes in your situation.  (You have to call them anyway because you can't tell what the base is in boxed colors, so without asking them you have no way of knowing what box to choose).

No matter what they tell you, be sure to test strand a small piece first to make sure you won't mess up your whole head.  Good luck!

Well I found out there's a Sallys close to where I live but I'm not sure if you need a card to go shopping there or not, as I've been told you do by some and you dont by others? :S

I was gonna pop in tomorrow morning before work but work just changed my hours last minute. W*nk!

I'm having a similar problem. I've just bleached my hair with the aim to going a light ash blonde but I have no idea what to do as putting an ash on now will make my hair green. I hate having to wear hats to hide my neon yellow hair.
Would a violet based dye work? and can anyone recommend one?
