Short hair help (pictures)

With summer and a big trip to California around the corner, my friend and I did some homemade haircuts yesterday in her back yard. We'd both been wanting to go short, and I went from this:

It was a huge change, and although I like the shorter cut, I really need a good style. I've got an appointment for a straightening, re-style, and color, but I have no idea what kind of style I want. Any suggestions??
