What is an appropriate amount to tip a stylist for a haircut?

Haircut and a perm?

Any help would be appreciated!

Hi Kerri,

I think the final price, not the service provided, determines the amount.

I think it`s customary to tip 15% of the total.

I normally tip about 2 bucks. It`s better than nothing right?

Hi Amber,

Actually, you`re quite close to 15%! What I personally find quite awkward is giving the tip. I usually just say "thank you," and shake hands while I slip a few bills to the stylist.
