I need help, bad. I have a formal event coming up, and because I`m wearing a really classic gown, I want hair to match.
How do I get those waves that women from the 20`s and 30`s had? My hair is shoulder length and very straight and fine, so it`s difficult to work with.
Is this something I can do myself at home every day? Do salons still know how to do this kind of style?

You certainly can do those styles at home.

Go to Marci`s Retro Style web site and select SETTING TECHNIQUES. She has a nice discussion of how to make waves and pin curls.

If you want something from the 40`s, here is a web site with a number of different options. The rolls are kinda neat.

Practice and have fun! ;) Good luck!
