Deep Hair Throat (good name don't ya think) told me that Yaki originated from yaks. The real animal kinds. Except not the domesticated ones. The wild ones. I didn't believe him but I asked 2 other hairdressers I know what Yaki hair was and theuy both told me the same thing. They actually would use wild yak hair on the original Yaki.
Did you know that? I had no idea.
Yes I did know that.. I wore some of this early Yaki hair until I found out what it was made from.. However since then (thankfully) many vendors no longer sell this texture as the blend of human and animal hair.. The good vendors now use 100% human hair which is processed to obtain the texture.. I hate the fact that many vendors still continue to call it Yaki hair.. Thankfully some vendors found the use of the term "Yaki" somewhat inappropriate (and insulting), and now call their Afro textures by more appropriate names..

Wow Karen interesting stuff. It is all facintaing isnt it, and a bit mindboggling. Sometimes its difficult to sort fact from fiction when there is so much misleading information being put out there.
And I did NOT know that about Yaki hair. I always thought that was just a 'myth'.
