ok to make it quick and to the point:
this is my hair:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v328/chronicgirl/crazyweekend020small.jpg
i want it to look like this:

or this:
http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/5695/hairstyle2ha3.jpg
the main problem is that it takes WAY too long to straighten my hair
(and even after blow drying and using a flat iron, it is still poofy
and wavy), and i've yet to find a decent cream/mousse/whatever to at
least tame it to a wave...
can anyone recommend products, hair cut suggestions (layers?), or anything else that can help me acheive either of these looks?
thank you in advance to those who help!

I really like Noodle Head from Sallys but I don't think you'll get those styles with a product. Noodle head does a great job at taking frizz away and defining the curl.
Not that it's good for your hair but there are chemical processes that take the frizz out but leave the curl. I had the yuko for years and after a while it totally broke all my hair.
