Hi everyone.  New here!  Hope you all can give me some advice.

I decided to take my dyed black hair back down to blonde.  Wow.  I had no idea it would be like this.  I have bleached my hair three, count em, three times...& it still has those icky orange ends.  My roots are an absolutely perfect platinum, but it just keeps getting darker & darker as the length goes on.

First two times it was bleached, was done by my stylist.  But, I am in a money crunch & can't afford to go back to her.  The last time I bleached, I did it myself & added a toner (which took out some of the orange).  But now...I have no idea what to do.  My hair has stayed pretty darn healthy through this process.  Some breakage the first two times, but now it looks & feels much better.  I just don't know where to go from here!

Please help?  Suggestions, advice...anything.

Thank you so much in advance!  Smile

You have my problem. An idiot stylist I payed almost$400 dyed my hair black and i want to have an ash brown wirth hilites. The same as the pic I have in my thread right under urs :)

Anyway, your roots are blonde because they're natural hair. Your ends are orange because they have black ends. I have no idea what to suggest, if you want to go blonde. But I am having the whole color an ash brown then adding ash hilites (same as pic in my thread). Of course, it wnt be the way I wanty it, because I have lots of orange, like you.  The darker you go, the less orange. So, after my hair became orange, I trried to make it a medium ash brown. It's not really ash, but pretty good considering.  I'm waiting for the hilites. I will not make them very light either, that wont work well. Áfter I bleach them, I'll add an medium extra ash blondeso that it will break the orange tint. Then I'll add a toner. That;s my plan. Hope it works.Good luck and sorry I wasnt much help.

From what I've learned, your ends are more porous and that is why the color is still holding on with all it's gusto.  I would really hate for you to use bleach again on the ends.  There was a post with a link to a girl's tutorial of using a color remover on her black hair.  It's still drying, from what I'm told, but perhaps not as damaging as bleach.
Hopefully if you are anxious and decide to do something more to it, that you're just doing it to the ends of the hair, and are treated your hair to some good conditioning treatments after all this, even using a leave-in kind.

Thanks guys.  Smile

So, suicides_eve...after reading your experience with Color Zap, would you suggest I try it?  As I said in my initial post, if I could just get the red/orange out of the ends...it would be perfect.

i would've said yes BEFORE you did all the bleaching, since you have already done so it is kinda pointless seeing as how the bleach already did  what its gonna do. it's hard to explain. in my personal experince when removing red/orange tones form my hair i used a red/gold corrector from sally's i added it to the bleach mix and it made it purpleish pink. that seemed to do the trick for me, i also belive i used a 20 vol so i could have more control over everything. But sadly in the end of it all, my very ends just wouldn't turn blonde b/c the black dye remains and years of damge. i just keep doing it ....  i ended up frying my hair and had to have it cut short to above my shoulders ( was past bslCry) and i am still recovering from it all , been almost 7 months too man this sucks.. good luck!
