she wants to do some red streaks in it which i think would look really cute on her!
should i not mess with it or can i do colorfix on sections (with foils?) i want red and then recolor?
do i have other options?

Colorfix first.  Then apply bleach to those sections.  Next color with the red that she wants to have put in.  Red over black won't show up unless you take these steps. Good luck and I hope this helps.

This is how I just recently dyed my hair and loved it! I first dyed it all black and then had my sister-in-law put some highlights into my hair using one of those bleach kits from sally beauty supply.

                            pre-lightning with a bleach kit

After that I used the manic panic pillarbox red semi-permanent hair color. Since it only works with pre-lightened hair, I was able to just mix it all over my hair and didn't have to worry about it dying the black parts... the color will only take on the bleached parts. The only drawback is that the red washes out pretty quick but its cheap (and my hair which is pretty long.. about the the middle of my back has enough for two applications in one jar) and it's easy to re-apply since you can just put it all over your hair and not have to worry about separating the strands all over again. and VOLIA!

you could also try red filler, you get it at sally's....it is good for your hair and will put red in....but rebekah always has the best ideas...i have found that out by reading her posts....i would follow her advise.
