EmbarrassedOk so this will be a loooong post!

So my wefts were way to thick and uncomfortable lately.  I believe it's because they have been sewn together making some of them into triple wefts, which adds a lot of weight and thickness.  Also, I'm not gonna lie, I've been pretty bad about cleaning off the LG off the wefts so I think a combination of that made them thick and hard.

So off I went to Sally's to buy some toupee tape.  They had some men's toupee tape made by Vapon, however those were strips.  The one I bought was a roll of tape.

It was $5.95 so pretty reasonably priced.  So I started with making my skin wefts...

Here I put the tape below the area that I wanted to cut off:

Then I turned the weft over and put LG with a syringe on the other side:

Then I put a piece of tape on top of the LG and "sandwiched" the hair together.  I heated the tapes with my blowdrier and pressed my comb down the length of the tapes to get a better seal:

Then I cut off the weft:

I put weft sealer on the end that was now exposed:

And voila I have a "skin weft"!  In this pic you could see how thin they are in comparison to before:

Applying these was a dream come true! Because of the tape the LG did not catch onto any stray hairs and putting the LG on was sooo simple!!

Now here are the bad news...I do not believe that I reinforced some of the wefts enough with the LG or the weft sealer, so there was a LOT of shedding!  But thats ok this hair is old.  I think next time I do this, I hopefully will have created a better way to hold the hair in there!
I must say, these feel amazing on the head!!! Super light...no itching...and very invisible, here is a pic of the back of my head without my hair covering it:

And it took me under 2 hours to remove, wash, blowdry my hair (and the extensions), make the "skin wefts" and apply.  I'm getting pretty good!!!

Ok here are the before and afters:  Mind you I have no make-up on so be kind

AFTER:

Now you could see that some length was definitley lost when cutting off the wefts, this is my previous install:

PHEW that was a lot of typing!!!! FEEDBACK???

GIIIIRRRL!!   That's awesome!! So did you double weft and then put the tape and LG on? How many rows? What hair is that? What do you use to remove the install?

Well actually this is the same wefts that I have been using since April!  I bought the from Rocket (thanks!) I sewed the wefts together quite some time ago.  Some of them were triple and double wefts.  There are only three wefts total. (But again some of them are double and triple)  I placed the first one to line up with the middle of my ears...the second one is directly above that, and the third is at the top of my ears.  I also have one little weft on each side about 2 inches below my part.  I have lost quite a bit of hair because I did not reinforce them well enough with the LG so the shedding has been obnoxious!  But I did order some of Amm's ESG which should hopefully be arriving shortly so I can replace these...

I only use Goo Gone to remove.  It is the only way I will go.  Before I used the squirt bottle that it came in, however, yesterday I bought a spray bottle and sprayed it on the wefts instead...I found this was a much easier and actually cleaner way of doing it.

OMG! What a great job you did! Well done! And you look gorgeous even without make up.

I think I'm going to do the same thing with some of my lumpy wefts - thanks so much for sharing and for the great tutorial.

Amazing.  Thank you sooooooooooo much for all the notes and images.  I totally followed everything you did and it looks spectacular.

Where did you get the syringe for the LG?  That is a great way to apply it rather than try to use the wimpy brush that comes with the bottle.

Good to know about Goo Gone and the spray bottle.  Sounds like a great option.  Definitly am going to try this.  Thanks so much.

Thanks for posting, mila. It was great of you to spend the time to do that tutorial.
The syringe really does help SO MUCH with LG.
I have also done similar makeshift "skin" wefts, and it has worked well. As long as enough LG i used, there is little shedding.
Your install looks great!!!

Thanks for all the sweet comment girls...you're making me blushEmbarrassed
Unfortunately though I did not reinforce the wefts enough with LG and I am getting serious shedding!  But it's ok...the Elite Remy I ordered from Amm has arrived and I wanna play with that!  The only thing is now I wanna try to do the silicone skin wefts that Valentine does...it seems pretty simple and I've already started playing around with it...here's teh link if anyone is curious:
