There is no such thing as a true reconstructor. Sure, I know the bottle probably says just that, but the truth is, hair is very, very dead. You cannot "repair" it as reconstructors claim to do. For that you would need to regenerate living cells and when it comes to hair, it's more like watering a dead plant. It's not going to come back. However moisturizing conditioners can improve hair's look and feel by coating the shaft with conditioning agents such as panthenol, protein, collagen, quaternary agents, etc. All conditioners are different--specifically which did you use?

I love the Almond Cherry Bark conditioner by Aura--I buy it at Sallys. Redken All Soft shampoo and conditioner are both top notch for dry hair as well.

Most "reconstructors" contain a lot of protein. Some hair doesn't tolerate that much protein, it gets dry and "crunchy" feeling.
Read labels and ingredient lists, try to avoid proteins for a while and look for moisturizing treatments/conditioners instead. L'Oreal Mega Moisture comes to my mind, great stuff (unless you're sensitive to silicones as well).

Cheers,
