Hi,
As I reported, Brigid lost 4 strands last week on the 2nd day. She lost 6 over the weekend. Billy replaced the 4 she lost last week and will probably replace the newly missing ones but he is off work today at a make-up class.
Brigid asked me about this and was quite concerned. She said she is doing everything right from washing carefully to brushing correctly and wondered if it had anything to do with her hair being very silky and fine.
Could this be an issue? Someone once told me that fine hair does better with tape or beads/rings/tube/shrinks than fusion because the hair is so soft and slippery.
Does this make sense to you?
I know that it is common to lose strands but how many is OK and how many is not OK?
Brigid is concerned because she hopes to keep this set in for as long as possible. The hair is very very nice and it is holding up really nicely. But she is worried about dropping more strands.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Karen, I'm sorry to hear that. I remember with fusion I was always loosing strands. I tried monkey bars, pre-tips and tipping my own. The only individual method that I didn't loose any were from Mark Barrington but removing those was torture.

Hi Karen. Where were the bonds placed and what size were they. Were the roots still attached to her natural hair? If the bonds were heavier than the section of natural hair to which it was attached, it could have pulled it out by the roots. If they were very, very small direct heat, such as a hair dryer or irons could have melted them causing them to slip off. The bonds may not have been melted enough to intergrate completely with her hair which can cause them to slip off too. Some people have problems occur when they get conditioner on their bonds but I've never experienced that issue. Or some of the pre-tips could have been weak in the beginning maybe not enough keratin to form a good bond. You'll have to take a close look at them if she still has some. If you post pics of the bond itself, we may be able to figure out what happened.

Thanks for so many great suggestions.
The bonds were fused all over her head and the individual strands were fairly thin. I did not measure them but I can and post. The roots were attached to her natural hair. I know that for a fact. The heat was from a fusion tool. Not sure if that gets hot enough? I think you are on to something by saying that either the strands were too heavy or the bond did not get hot enough. I also think some of the pre-tips might have been weak from the beginning and maybe not enough keratin.
We are going to take a good look tomorrow AND will take photos and close ups of the fusion areas.

I have heard that donna bella has a really hard keratin bond, similar to that of GL or SOcap. I would imagine you would have to get the bond nice and melty/bubbly to ensure a good saturation. Try taking one of the strands that have fallen out and cut the tip in half cross wise, not length wise. Sometimes you can see a little hole in the middle from where the natural hair slipped out. That would mean poor adhesion. What color is the keratin on the bonds that have come out? Sometimes I think the alkalinity or composition of tap water can have an effect on fusion too...
And take a look at Brigid's scalp where she has lost the strands and see if she has little bald spots. That would be an indicator of a too small a section of her hair was used to attatch the strand too.
