Hi Everyone!
I am a Cosmotology Student. Back in April I decided I wanted to be a all over Blonde. I ended up having to cut my hair off past my shoulders. I have been getting regular trims every 3 weeks to take off the rest of the damage. I have finally got all the damage off, but I am so ready to have my longer hair back. So I started looking into Hair Extensions. My hair stylist and I swap...So I do her color and she does mine. So last Friday I did her color and she glued in some Extensions for me. Sometimes the woman can be a little spacey, but the hair just looked awful. I have relativly thick hair, and a choppy cut and she just didnt put that much on the sides. And to me it pretty much looked like a mullet. I know ppl get hair Extensions all the time with hair as short as mine and it turns out great. So I need some help! I have also been looking into the DIY methonds. What does everyone recommend for the best results? I'd appreciate any advice!

If you want long hair, don't do extensions! You will damage your hair even more than it is already. I say, go for clips in. Order hair and clips and make them yourself so you can make as many rows as you need.

Sorry, db, but I'll have to disagree on this one. If you want to grow your own hair long, take the time to educate yourself on the various methods of hair extensions available- be them clip-ins, bonded, tapes..etc. Then make your decisions and install your extensions with your hair's best interests in mind. :) I have grown my hair from thin, cruddy shoulder length to a thicker waist length in two years- while wearing extensions. It just takes CARE. Use gentle methods and be VERY careful during brushing and removal. Extensions actually kept me from cutting or styling my own hair- so they helped me grown my hair long. Disasterbarbie is right in that you should be cautious- take your time learning and be gentle.
I have read a lot...and I know that there are pros and cons to each method. I really want something a little more permanant than clip-ins. I did them for my friend...but she will have me there to be able to put them in when she wants them...I don't think I am talented enough to put them in myself neways. My biggest issue is the matter of getting it to look decent with my hair. I know that she didn't put enough hair in, but will her putting more in, truly make it look "natural." My stylist said she would do fusion for half the cost...about $200....Or I considered having some friends from school help me with a DIY method. I guess it comes down to me being paranoid about spending all this money and time on it, and me thinking it looks awful and having to turn right around and take it out or something.
