Perm Maintenance

After years of wearing my hair long and straight I`ve decided on a spiral perm. So I`ve been reading everything I can find about perms on the web and I`m a little confused about maintaining my perm once the curls begin to relax. I read somewhere they make perms for already permed hair. Would I get a perm for already permed hair or just get the same perm and maybe process it for a shorter time? What about new growth? If your curls are still tight enough can you perm just the new growth. I`ve already made my appointment and am very excited. I live in a major city and there has been quite a resurgence of perms over the last year. I just would like to know how I will maintain my perm. I love the look.
