I've been wearing 1B for 2 years now, and I was a blonde before that.  I really want to become a redhead now but have no idea what kind of extensions to buy.

Anyone have any info on natural looking colored good hair.  I was thinking about going with Bohyme hair and getting the sew ins again.

I want to color my hair a natural looking red, so if you use a certain type of color on your hair that matches a certain color of extension etc please let me know.

Wish me luck guys!!!!
Wearing 22" 8oz Tease I tips installed with silicone microrings.

When I was doing red hair, I usually bought the Bohyme # 33, dark auburn.  Most of the time I would use  a tint to color it to make it a little more burgundy.

I am a redhead and reds are hard to find. I wear the bohyme hair and it all depends of what shade of red you are looking for. Are you wanting that dark red or are you looking for a natural red?
I currently wear anywhere from 10-18 .....some of those have more red tones than the others but also mix them....sometimes I add a blonde to the mix as well. Just depends on how bright or how suttle you want.....Bohyme doens't have any really pretty bright reds IMO.....the bright reds they have look too fake to me.....guess you could color it though......I just hate to color new hair...lol....
Thanks,
JeepGirl

Current install-Bohyme Bodywave #30 and #14 in the straight hair/ they didn't have the #14 in bodywave, so I mixed them...works great!

I agree on the Bohyme reds.  Granted, I don't have a Bohyme color ring.  I do have some Bohyme FR that I ordered in a #30.  I love the hair, but, the color 30 is way off from most brands.  It is much more ashy, hardly an auburn at all.

I haven't tried the 33.

Trust me...the 33 is more like a burgundy red....not a pretty red....kinda like some vendores 27 are a petty ginger red..like the wawa...it's a lovely ginger red but you can't find that in real human hair....well any that I have found. If anyone knows of anyone who does, please let me know.

I'm not saying the 33 isn't nice....but it's not anywhere near a ginger family.
Thanks,
JeepGirl

Hi there... I am a redhead!

I use #30, a medium auburn, mixed with #28...strawberry blond.

The strawberry blond is a horrible color, but when mixed or used as a highlight, it is absolutely gorgeous!  I get compliments where ever I go.

Since my natural hair color is med. brown, I used Clairol-Sunny Auburn on my roots.  It is a Perfect match.

Sometimes I dye some of the blond with the Sunny Auburn because I don't need  4 ounces of it.  ...or I use Apricot Glaze to get more color variation.  By using 2-3 different colors, the extension hair looks sun-streaked and very natural.

I once bought #33 dark auburn... I hated the color because it was too dark and a strange color.  If you are going for a beautiful red...#30 is the way to go.

Shebee- Is the #30 you have used specifically Bohyme brand? My #30 from Bohyme is not very similar at all to other 30s I have seen. I love the hair and used it as a highlight on the Bohyme #4. It looks beautiful, but, it is not very auburn at all.

I used the hand tied bohyme.

I also run the sunny auburn color down thru the top layers in streaks to make it match perfectly with my own hair.

It is more of a brownish-red auburn. When the sunlight hits it, it lights up red.

Perhaps the #4 (med Brown?)  takes away from the red color.

Are we able to post the site where we buy hair?  If so I could send you there so that you could look at their color chart.

#30        Med Auburn

#26 Strawberry Blond

I once bought 31...copper red and I did not like it.

Don't knock #33!  It looks very good on people with dark hair and a cool skin tone!  It's definitely more burgundy though.

Your right!  Yesterday my niece dropped by with Burgundy/Red hair.  It was really pretty and very dramatic.

I also looked at some awesome pictures this morning.  #33 makes me look like a clown wanta-be. I have a warm skin tone and look best in greens and golds, so #30 & #28 works for me.

Thanks...
Shebee

Sorry....I wasn't trying to say it wasn't a pretty red on some people......just not what I call a natural red,.....not sure how to explain that. 33 is a burgundy red I guess you could say....it's beautiful on others but being I am a true redhead it looks terrible on my skin tone.....looks fake....kinda like a black or dark color of that nature.....great for others but usually doesn't look so hot on fair complected redheads....not to mention the older I get the worse I look with dark colors like that...makes me look much older.

I wish Bohyme would get some new reds...along the line of ginger red. Kinda like the WaWa in 27....it's georgous.....
Thanks,
JeepGirl

I know what you mean about not finding any great red colors.  My grandma & mom were true redheads.  My mom had a auburn-brown...which is what I think that I am always trying to match with varying degrees of success.

I hate to color the extension hair, but it seems like I am always coloring part of it to get that "perfect" color.  I can't even find hair dye that is the right color.  I always have to mix it.

When I want more red, I will mix sunny auburn (Clairol) & 1/4 part flame and color some of the hair. Then I do the hair blend thing and it matches great.  It is a very pretty brown /red/ginger color.  I once tried all flame which was beautiful, but the color soon washed down the drain.

The reds don't hold very well now days.  Someone told me that they had to change the formula because it was toxic.  LOL!

Perhaps if we sold our cars, we could afford Virgin Russian Hair!
