Time for a Change (Advice Please?)

   Firstly, hello, this is my first post.  You seem like a rather friendly, active community, so I'm looking forward to getting more involved.  As for now, though, I would like some advice . . .  

I've had the same long, boring hair for seven years now, after a bad experience growing out bangs.  Now I'm definitely ready for something new.  I'm kind of afraid to go short, because I don't know how it would look on me, or what would suit.  I also don't have time to straighten my hair every day, though, so if anyone knows of good straightening products, I'd be glad to get ahold of 'em.

Any ideas about a new cut that would work for my face shape?
