Hello Lovely Ladies & Gents?

So I have a quick question. Ive been using Amm's silicone extenshells on my clients (theyre great I recommend them), but today I had a client who had her hair done by another stylist who uses hairlocs. I noticed that my extenshells were slightly bigger( I use medium length) . is their someone out there who uses hairlocs as well as other tubes who can recommend a product?  I have not tried protubes, would this be closer to the hairlocs tube? I would like to find something smaller than the medium extenshell , but Im very meticulous that I want to be able to pull enough of their hair to match the density of the strand I am attaching.

oh, she also told me that her other stylist said she could wear her extensions for 6 months, that after  12 weeks they would just slide the extension up, would do you guys think?  I tend to not do that with my clients , at 12 weeks I take them out, comb them out, shampoo and put them back in, i think its safer but I could be wrong.

Any suggestions would be appreciated Smile

Personally every client is different and depending on what type of hair you use, some of the bonds will have broken down. Some clients you can and others you cannot. I don't move rings up and I do NOT recommend leaving any type of extensions in longer than 12 weeks. That is utterly ridiculous.

It is really not safe to leave any kind of extension in longer than 12 weeks.  Mostly due to the fact that we all shed hair, and after 12 weeks that extension strand will be hanging on by fewer of the natural hairs.  So, if you just slid up the loc, then eventually the strand would be too heavy for the supporting natural hair and it will pull out or break off.

Also, matting at the root is a problem, also due to shed hair.

Any fool who says you can wear extensions for six months without taking them out and removing the shed hair obviously hasn't worn extensions on their own head.  Poorly trained stylists just believe the hype that these companies tell them in order to sell their products at ridiculously high prices.

I mostly use the silicone lined micro rings, but I also like the protubes as well.  I think real Hairlocs brand micro rings aren't as long as protubes, but other than that, I don't see any real difference.

The key to using microrings is to use the smallest size that you can safely get the tip and a reasonable amount of the natural hair into.  The tighter the fit, less slipping.

ALL my clients must come in every two months for maintance- never longer, too much matting, and shedded hair.
every single strand and extensions is checked and properly maintanced. i go strand by strand, row by and row and most times take out a section at a time and re install.
a good stylist cares about the hair, not just the money.
she could of meant her hair would last 6 months, not leaving it in for 6 mths

Thanks girls, I didnt think that sounded right, I NEVER advise my clients to keep any method longer than 3 months.  But Im glad you all agree.

So, any advise on what rings are closest to harilocs? Tangles you use hairlocs, have you tried others rings/locs that you like?
