I have been bleached blonde for several years and have been made too white.  (My hair has always turned golden blond when bleaching ) I asked to go to a darker blonde.  Now I am ASH brown (smokey looking on the ends).  I want to be golden blonde.  What has happened?  How do I correct it?  Can I do it at home?   I have a party tonight, help!

I'm sorry to hear about what happened. Your hair is very porous if it was bleached to white blond before the color was put in.

The good news is that the color should fade very quickly since hair color doesn't hold on very well to porous hair. Honestly, if I were you, I wouldn't touch it since it is already very damaged if it was bleached to white blond.

After it fades, after about a month or so, you could try a demi-perm color to add golden tones but pick a lighter color than you want. What happens is that hair color "takes" more on porous hair. It appears both darker and ashier.

For now, you could fade the color faster by deep conditioning it for about 10 min or so with a good deep conditioner or hot oil treatment. This will cause some of the color to wash out. I would just keep doing this a couple times a week and don't do anything else to your poor hair for now.

Hope that helps.
