synthetic hair

hiya

so im thinking of using some synthetic hair to add extensions as pinch braids.
can anyone guide me to a good place to get them loose, and what type to use? i've read that mono filament is best?
im going for bright red just past the shoulder hair - my own hair is dyed bright red, but far too short!
i've used microlinks before, but i really didnt like them much, and found them so uncomfortable.
