So I washed my hair last nite and the tape held!  Clap I used a clear (mositurizing by Garnier) shampoo and held the tracks down the entire time!  Then I conditioned from the ponytail down.  When that was done, I noticed the top track had come loose on the end. Confused    I used a dab of LG and that fixed it.  Tongue

Thank you to everyone who gave me advice!  Hug

airhornAlright....i held...........yipppeeee.....glad you finally got them to stay....looks great on you.....very pretty curl pattern....it that a french refined? Let us know how you like it in the long run. I loved theFR but found it to be a hassle after a couple of weeks with tangling.  If it wasnt for that I would always wear it.
Thanks,
JeepGirl

Current install-Bohyme Bodywave #30 and #14 in the straight hair/ they didn't have the #14 in bodywave, so I mixed them...works great!

ok ladies here is the update: I washed my hair on christmas eve (with the clear moisturizing shampoo from Garnier) and my ear to ear track started to come loose in the middle of the track.  I was debating whether to use a dab of LG or to re-install the track when my horseshoe track became loose as well.  Confused DANG!  furious
I really dont care for the LG Nuke and didnt like the idea of having a track bonded with almost all LG to keep it in place.  So...in the morning I went ahead with the takedown. Unhappy It wasnt hard since most of the tracks were loose.  All I needed to do was put on some conditioner on the tracks, lay down in the bathtub full of hot water for a few minutes and they were out Shocked (except for the few spots where I had used the LG on the ends).  I used the Goo-Gone to remove the LG.  The LG is not something I want to keep using.  Its ironic - the tape is not quite strong enough and yet the LG is too strong!  Ermm
I have been without extensions for the past few days and i am trying to decide what to do.
1) re-install with protac having each track single wefted.
2) try a different brand of tape.
3) try a different bonding glue.
I decided to go to my local retailer and see what tapes and glues they carry.  I talked to one of the staff who when I asked about the LG, he said "Oooooohhhh nnnnooooo" then he highly recommended a product called "salon pro hair bonding glue".  They had "supertape" but I didnt buy it because it did not come in a roll - it came is a boomerang shape?! (what the...?)
Any one have any experience with the salon pro glue?
I really like the ease of use with protac and will experiment making at least one single wefted track to see if that does the trick.  Maybe since the 18" hisandher cuticle hair is so dense - the weight was just too much for the tape.  i really want to make this work somehow.  I will try one track with the salon pro bonding glue and post my results asap....

What kind of tape are you using?  I do like the supertape better myself.  What is the condition of your natural hair?  Is it dry, oily, silky, etc....Have you thought about trying a different type of install?  If you like wefts, maybe you could try sewing on some trumpet tubes and installing them like EZ Wefts(see doctoredlocks.com).

ugghh, they encouraged you to use latex glue? I would suggest trying another method. Latex glue is crappy stuff. If you cant get tape to hold I doubt latex will hold, and it will leave a whole lot of nasty gooey glue in your hair that is a PITA to get out.

asinnamon - I am using the pro-tac tape.  my natural hair tends to be dry.  I have had sew ins before but had some hair loss patches so I thought I would try this method.

Sherrie - thanks for the warning.  Sheesh - seems like i am s.o.l.

I am gonna try to do my install in the next few days.  My plan this time will be to do two tracks single wefted this time. Then to use an entire one inch wide pro tac strip (rather than cutting it in half as i did before) for the third track (double wefted) and see which option works.  I may even try out a touch of the super pro bonding glue but only if my track lifts on the ends to see if i like (or hate) it.
In the meantime - i will try to find some supertape to try out next time.

Kid.... are you letting the shampoo get on your tape tracks? Are you letting it run down into the new tape? If so, this may be the cause for the slipping. Only apply it to the middle and ends of your hair....I usually flip up my length and rub that shampoo/conditioner up a little higher...but never near my tracks and I don't massage it into them either.

I also tilt my head forward to wash the top part.....and never push the hair back with the product on it before I rinseit out. This keeps any product from getting on my tapes and loosening them. Since I've been doing this, I've had no problems with my sides slipping. I also have them re-inforced with LG on the ends and several spots the length of tape.

JeepGirl - as a matter of fact I did let the shampoo get on my tracks this time!!!! Shocked  I had been super careful on my previous washes but i began to think i was being overly cautious.  (I guess I do need to take that much care to avoid getting shampoo on the tape!)
I just colored my roots and am planning to do my install today.  I am gonna start a post in regard to latex and lg glues to get peoples thoughts...

Hi KidRobot, Your hair looks amazing! I love the curl it is the exact hair I am looking for, could I be a bit rude and ask where you bought it from? How much for each packet and do you know if they do col 4/27?

Also (sorry to be a pain!) does the curl last after washing? and how do you maintain it?

Thanks hun Nikki x

ohhhh nice!!!! that curl pattern would work perfect with my hair.  I always find it so hard to find hair with the same curl as mine so i always apply straight extensions and wear my hair straight- i might give these a go!!! x
It doesn't have to be natural to be fabulous!!!/
