QuoteReplyTopic: install after colouring hair Posted: December 22 2007 at 11:25pm
i have bought some silicone lined microrings for my next install which i cant wait to try.. i have had ordinary microlinks before and slippage was the biggest problem.
when i install i use a clarifying shampoo on the hair before the install and dont condition. this tme though i will be colouring my hair before the install which will include a full bleaching and box dye. my hair is in an ok condition, but it has been bleached before quite a few times. i really want to be able to condition my roots to prevent breakage after the bleaching.. but will this make the rings slip when i install? should i colour one day, condition, shampoo the next day and install? advice please :)
Are you doing a full root retouch or a highlight with bleach?
I have applied hair extensions after using bleach on a client. But I still do not use conditioner. In order to ensure your extension application will be successful, you really don't want any silky, slick coating (like conditioner) on the hair.
In reality, bleaching the hair and applying extensions should not be done on the same day due to the chemical swelling action of the bleach and peroxide on the hair shaft.
Although it's not ideal, the bleach and extension job is still done in the salon the same day since most of the time clients do not want to come in for two separate appointments.
However if you can split this into two different days, it would be best to bleach and condition on one day and then clarify and apply extensions on a different day.
I wouldnt use any conditioner on your hair prior to installing the extensions. If you feel you must condtion after the bleach/color then I would wait until the next day and shampoo then install on fresh clean hair with no conditioner.
thanks heaps guys! im so excited, i wish my hair would hurry up and arrive already!! damn xmas public holidays, puts everything back another week! ill be sure to let everyone know how it goes seeing as iv asked a billion questions in relation to this latest install!
