Hi There,

I am new and really need some help from all of the experts here. I have had Great Lengths off and on for several years. It seems to me that the cost keeps rising and the hair quality is going down. It looks great at first but then seems to shed quit a bit and almost get kind of ratty looking not too long after getting it. I feel like its just getting too expensive for what you're getting.

I'm wanting to see if anyone else has tried anything after having Great Lengths and likes it better. I just think there has to be something better with all of the competion out there now. Any thoughts on Socap?

Also has anyone tried any clip ins that they like?? If so which ones?

Sorry for all the questions but I really feel overwhelmed by all of the choices! I have long, blonde chest length hair but is is really fine and not so great on its own. I love how that extensions fill it out and give me so many more options.

Thanks so much for any help!!! Wink

I am So Cap certified and I really like that system.  The bond attachment is small, you can do either a rolled bond or a flat wrap.  The bond holds up well and doesn't get gummy.  It is easily removed with the remover.  The cost is less expensive than So Cap.  My cost for hair is about $130 for 50 strands.

I wear clip ins myself since my hair is too fragile for full time extensions.  I make them myself with Bohyme wefts.  I love my clip ins.  The downside is you can't sleep with them in, so you have to spend a few minutes a day putting them in, no big deal though.

Thanks metal girl. Do you like the Socap hair pretty well too? I wonder how it compares to Great Lengths?

Hi BeachGirl

I actually just posted yesterday ( my post is called: MICRODOTS). I too have been wearing Great Lengths for over 6 years, I am so sick of them. I get the ratty look you are talking about, and although everyone swore to me it doesnt damage the hair, my hair grows but when i take them out i have no volume left, however wherever i dont have the extensions my hair is thick and voluminous... so ya those things kill your hair.
Also the quality is worst in the past year or so, the hair used to be so shiny and healthy now it's just crap. My blonde strands have a lot of black hairs in them and i feel like its shedding like crazy ( i only wash my hair twice a week, i use the best and most gentle products an and still I cant get them to look nice).

Im moving on tomorrow to something called MICRODOTS, since I cannot deal with those bonds anymore ( the plasticy feel when i touch my scalp) andworrying about them being visible ... no matter what you do to camouflage great lengths there is always a time when they are visible...

So microdots is supposedly invisbile... it goes in areas of your head where regular extensions cannot be applied because they would be visible, and the quality of the hair is really nice.
The can be reattached and reused for about 3 years. The initial investment is HEFTY but the maintenance is low $120 a month.

I think i was spending about $12,000 on great lenghts because my hair grew faster on the sides they would be up to my ears within weeks so i would have them replaced. I got charged about $10 to $12/ strand so i ended up spending huge amounts of money on extensions you can supposedly keep for up to 6 months ( that would look like a mop) i think they need to be removed every 3-4 months in order to look great all the time...

So Microdots in the long run will be cheaper... ( its somewhere around $6000 and $12000) depending on what hair you want and how much of it ... but maintenance is $125 ( every 4-6 weeks) they retighten them.

They have to be removed and put back in twice a year and that too costs around $200.

but at least its invisble, and looks beautiful.
Im getting them done tomorrow . I will keep you posted if that is an investment you are interested in.

For my part, I totally waisted money on great lengths trying to achieve perfection by maintening them more than required and worst part of it my hair is damaged.

good luck ... go ahead take 'em off....
