QuoteReplyTopic: Need hair extenstion help! Posted: January 17 2008 at 9:56am
I'm trying to grow my hair out, and I'm getting very impatient. However, I don't have a lot of money to spend to get professional extensions. Is there a good method that I can do myself? Can I purchase the hair and supplies at Sally's?
I purchased a Revlon Length+ extension, and it just doesn't look natural with my layered hair.
I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks so much!

Welcome Challenginghair.....how much can you afford to start?
Pictures of your hair is another great place to start in order to get advice.
Need to know what length and texture you want or need for your type of hair.
I remember my first post and feeling so lost and not knowing what, where or why...lol.....now I do my own extensions and save lots of money!
Personally I like the tape method..ir..protac/proflex/airtape.supertape....there are many kinds but some are the same product but named something different on each site.
Go to Sherries site and she sells all the supplies you would need....except maybe the hair right now....she use to sell hair, not sure why she doesn't anymore...but anyway....I buy my hair from Ebonyline.com. I buy the Bohyme hair only...haven't found another hair for the price that holds up as well. I can get 2 months of wear out of this hair with 1 take down and re-install. Actually if I had to I could wear the hair longer, but I love me some new hair every couple of months.
Anyways...Sherrie I believe has a step by step tutorial on how to apply the tape and if you search in here enough you will find ALL kinds of tricks we use when using the tape and liquid gold method. I've been using this method for over 2yrs now and I love the fact that I can do it myself.
It runs me around $250.00 for 18inch hair every 2 months and supplies will last a couple of months as well....course depends on how much you use. I buy 2 bags of hair and they are 4oz each. I usually instal around 7oz. with a little left over...course it will depend on how thick or thin, curly or straight your hair is and what type of cut you currently have.
Hope some of this helps!
Thanks,
JeepGirl
Current install-Bohyme Bodywave #30 and #14 in the straight hair/ they didn't have the #14 in bodywave, so I mixed them...works great!
