QuoteReplyTopic: help with haircolor fading!! Posted: January 29 2008 at 3:07pm
Hi, I am new to this forum. My color was a very light blonde in november, and I decided to go and get it all cut short, and colored an auburn brown. I have been coloring, and recoloring but it keeps fading out! yesterday I went to sallys and bought a number 2 brown filler and loreal mega browns chocolate level 4, because I wanted my hair to have a little more brown in it because the roots seem to be grabbing all of this red, and then the bottom part of my hair looks faded out by the second week after coloring! I followed the directions for the filler. color roots first then mix half of the filler with the color, and apply all over for 20-25 minutes. After I washed everthing out the color seems darker, and a little better, but it is still pretty bright at the roots, and I am afraid of it all washing out again, and suggestions, before I give up and go back to blonde? Thanks so much!
I hate those "after blonde" days! Sadly, I'm not sure there's much you can do until that lightened hair grows out, other than using the protein fillers when you dye it like you're already doing. Your roots are probably processing faster due to the heat from your head, you may want to put the dye on your roots last after you've put it on the other hair.
Going light blonde makes your hair very porous, and its just always going to be hard to keep other colors on there without them sliding right out (especially reds, they are the smallest molecules). I had long hair dyed platinum, and all I found to do was just wait it out (took forever). If you can avoid using conditioner, that will help keep your color in, but it may not be so great for the health of your hair (I couldn't do that after my frying processes).
