QuoteReplyTopic: One piece clip in vs 10 piece Posted: January 29 2008 at 5:10pm
Hello again, I have one more question, I'm ordering my hair extensions within the next week or so i hope, but i can't decide which would be better...what are the pro's and con's of the one piece clip-in's & the 10-12 piece ? Like i said in my last post ive used the Jessica simpson one piece i liked how easy it was but the cap was way to big and the clips wouldn't stay in. So if you guys could give me your opinions from personal experiences that would be wonderful
thanks :)

Hi Cristine....I also had the Jessica Simpson one piece clip in and I had the same problem with the cap being too large and the clips not staying in. I bought some clip ins (8 pieces) and love them. Although they tend to hurt my head after many hours of wearing them, they are more comfortable then the Jessica Simpson 1 piece. I would definitely purchase the piece clip ins over the 1 large piece.
When I make custom clip ins for myself or my clients, I double and sometimes triple up on the wefts and make weft that measures about 11"-12", which is a good width to go temple to temple on most head sizes.
When I do this, I usually put around 2.5 ounces of hair in each row, so it only takes 1-3 rows to get the length and fullness. I personally don't like clip in sets that have you fool with all sorts of little pieces. Too fussy for me.
My set I made for myself that I'm wearing currently I used 8 ounces of 22" hair that I sewed into three 12" wide rows. I blended dark brown, burgundy, and purple into the rows to make a totally custom look for myself.
When I do clip ins for clients, I show them how to part the hair, tease at the partline and hair spray to create a firm base to give something for the clips to clip into. That's the only way they stay in my very thin, baby fine hair.
I recently bought Easy-Do from YHS. It's just like JS's Hairdo. One thing is for sure, the cap is too big & it feels awkward. I'd go with the individual pieces. I normally use only 3-4 wefts. HTH!
