QuoteReplyTopic: Light brown to... TOO blonde! [Help needed w/ pic] Posted: March 19 2008 at 11:48pm
Hey.
Just a quick intro here. First post and all. I'm a 20 year old guy, letting my hair grow since Octobor last year. Had a £40 voucher to use at "The Mens Store" in Glasgow (an incentive to let my hair get a decent length and get cut and coloured).
So I put up with it in it's awkward phase. My hair grows thick and fast until it hits that awkward point when it crawls in =(
So anyway, I had a pretty big mass of hair. Fringe to past eyebrows, sides down my ears. Pretty caveman stuff.
So I took myself to the Mens Store and asked to go blonde. I was a bit worried about going too blonde, and I sayed this and asked them to take that into consideration, but get it a colour that would suit me.
It's horrible.
I got told that you can't go blonde in one move, you need to get layers done one day, then a slightly different tone layers the next time. Fair enough.
But my brown hair has been assaulted by really white blonde (platinum as the girl put it) and its quite patchy. I noticed she started working on the front a bit (pulling hair out and cutting into the brown segments) which seemed to take away the stripes of brown and blonde. But she forgot the rest of it, and it's just a mess.
I hate complaining, but I return to work for the airlines next week and soemthing needs done.
The mixture used was overheard to be "40 volume" if that means much.
Really, I would like to switch to blonde but this is just far too extreme. Theres far too much brown showing through and it's there in chunks. Here's a pic:
So what can get done about that? Can I dye it/tone it down? I really know what to expect if I go back to ask about getting this fixed.
I really regret trying to go blonde, going back to brown would be much better...
Thanks in advance Andy

ITs now almost 6am over here in Scotland and still can't sleep. I am going straight back to the salon tommorow to see what they can do. I am so worrier that bleaching it has ruined my chances of decent hair in the near future and I have this new job and an interview as well. Stupid me picks the worst time to try something new :( worried sick

Hi Andy, first of all hello from me probably a few miles from you as I live in Cumbernauld just outside Glasgow. Secondly, I am a hairstylist and I always say to my clients if you are not happy with their hair to please say so. If you are not happy you have the right to go back to the salon and ask if they can fix it for you. All that you need to get done is to tone the blonde down a little. Its a simple procedure for the salon to do, so go back and ask them to tone it down. Sounds like the stylist has left the bleach on for far to long. I hope you get it sorted Andy. The best of luck with your new job.
Hope this has helped a little. Karen

I did just go back in and they sorted it there and then. I am a newbie to the hairdressing/salon world as I have just recently got my hair long enough to warrent the prices over a barbers :P
It's a LOT nicer now, and I didn't mean to bad mouth the stylist in any way. Its my fault for not being specific enough.
Anyway, all sorted :)
Thanks alot, Andy
