hey, even though i`m white and i`ve never dyed my hair, many of my friends are asian and they look good with carmel or auburn colored highlights. i would stay close to your original shade- not too extreme of a difference... unless you`re going for a very dramatic look:)

I`m not a fan of changing the color of one`s hair and I think it`s particularly unattractive
on Asians, Blacks, and others who have naturally blackish hair. The caramel streaks are
annoying but the blonde and red asians are conforming to real poor taste I find. No
offense, just an opinion. And there`s such an epidemic of changing hair color. What
nature gave us I find quite good enough.

nah i think blonde hair/highlights look well good on asian/black hair

but what asian r u? like chinese/phillipino asian or indian pakistani asian?

coz if u were indian/pakistani asian i would say highlights and subtle blondes look best...but if u r chinese/japanese asian then bright funky blondes look best :)

I will never understand women! Why beautiful Asian lady would you want to change your hair color from it`s natural brunette color. Do fair skinned blue eyed blonde women look good with black hair. The answer is no. Do dark haired Oriental Asian women look good blonde or with auburned colored hair. No. That doesn`t mean these blondes or Asian women would look bad, you just would`nt look as good!
But, it is hopeless to try to persuade you, because, like many women, you are going to color your hair anyway!

I would think medium colors for highlights, otherwise it will stand out too much(the dreaded skunk stripes come to mind!) like medium neutral brown, medium auburn, medium copper brown, medium golden brown or medium bronze-caramel colors, maybe just some in front, framing the face and just a bit on top. If the colorist knows what they`re doing this should give a natural look and some brilliance and shine without taking too much away from the beautiful natural black hair. If you`re going for an all-over color, go no more than one shade lighter - either neutral dark brown, dark copper brown, dark auburn, or a dark bronze-brown. Again, this will keep the depth of color but add a bit of a different tone!
Of course, if you`re going for an extreme look, then just about anything goes - like Clairol ExtremeFX!

I have a few Asian friends. I`d say the color greatly depends on their appearance and personality. I`ve noticed, generally speaking, the more conservative Asians wouldn`t change their hair color at all, while the other percentage, the more bold and fearless folks, would color their hair in varying shades, from auburn, light brown and medium blonde. Very few of them tried platinum blonde look, but those who did that, they`re like the skateboarder/surfer types. I`d suggest you to try light brown or dark blonde color. If you like it, you can stick to that or dye your hair a dark red if you`re very pale skinned. But some Asians look best with their natural color, it depends on their overall appearance and personality. The more bold the person, the more likely they`ll change their hair color.
