I got my hair cut yesturday. At first I was ok with it because my husband said he liked it so much but now I can't believe I cut it. I knew I would hate it short and even though I brought a picture to make it absolutely clear what I wanted, the hairdresser totally screwed it up and it looks like total chaos. I've thought about going to someone else to fix it but I don't think I'll be any happier with it shorter. The only thing that can keep me from totally freaking out about it is knowing I can grow it back out at the most optimal speed possible. I know hair can't really grow any faster than half an inch per month but mine really only grows a quarter of an inch per month and it's because my hair is naturally dry (I hope) or that I'm cursed with bad genes. I really don't want  to go out of the house now. I need suggestions on how to "hide" a bad cut and how to get my length back.

here is what it was suppose to look like

and this is what I got

i think it looks great i know after i cut my hair i always hate it  because i'm not used of it but if you still don't like it you can get a product that lifts from the root so it has more oomph or maybe get some highlites but i really think it is very pretty

First, Mrs. H, I hope I don't sound insincere, but I like your cut MUCH better than the photo cut. And it looks better on you than the Stiles cut looks on her. My two pennies.
Being a long hair enthusiast myself, however, I really understand your disappointment. Sounds as if you may have cut your hair in part to please DH. That would be very loving on your part. But, if you loved and treasured your length, however long it was, you are entitled to mourn. We're all human! We all make mistakes, and now you know yourself better.
My suggestion to you in the meantime is to try to wear differerent looks, and be flirtaceous with it for DH. His reaction will help your ego! For those times when you are REALLY missing it, buy yourself some pretty hairbands which will serve to camouflage the short length.
Finally, it's hard to accept now, but increments in growth are more impressive when hair is short, and moreover, you can eventually take a positive attitude about your ever-changing looks and actually enjoy the process. Good luck, Bob
P.S. Don't forget, this is one thing that you NEVER need repeat, if time doesn't alter your present belief that you made a mistake. Big%20smile

Your hair looks good.  I would probably put in some mousse to add a little lift to the hair.

Also, if your hair is too dry, get some good moisturizing shampoo and conditioner (Nexxus Therappe shampoo and Nexxus Hydra Sleek conditioner are good).  Drinking lots of water not only grows your hair faster, but it keeps it from getting too dry, too.

Have some fun with your new cut!  Add some highlights if you want, to add more fun.  Wink

I agree with the others, her cut is just the same as yours, only yours is slightly longer in the back.  I too don't think yours looks bad, but I can understand why you may think so.  The stylish layered cuts these days can look really choppy and chaotic if you aren't used to it, but if you look at other women with stylish layered cuts, theirs are choppy too, its just the style these days.   (Again, yours does not look choppy to me in your photo, I'm just saying in general).

I too think you may as well try to enjoy it, now that it is what it is.  Use a curling iron and gel to give it lift at the roots and curl the ends upward so they flip up.  You can flip them up more than it is in the top photo, it would look stylish and good that way.  Put gel in it, let it dry, brush it out, then style with a curling iron, then spray with hairspray to hold it.  You can also put gel or mousse at the roots and blow dry it upside down for lift at the roots like she has in the photo.  I like your color too.  I envy anyone who can do black hair!

if you want to get it looking kind of like the picture, put some root lift in it while its wet, then blow dry it, take a flat iron to the ends mainly and in sections then use some styling wax to "piece-fy" it.

if you dont like that much product or taking heat to your hair, do some mousse while wet, scrunch it and let it air dry.

I think it's an adorable cut, all it needs is some volume.  Short hair styles look extra cute with some stylish barettes too.

you need to have some 10-15 highlights(properly placed) to add texture. no need to go REAL blonde, but even a level 8-9 would do the trick. stay with the warm tones, you didn't get this haircut for a high maintenance double process color. now yu just need the proper kind of texturing. DO NOT GET IT RAZORED!!! razors will shear off needed cuticle above the actuall "cut" line & cause a ton of split ends. hint; if any stylist suggests or pulls out a razor, kindly stand up and walk out! they don't know the physics of metal against hair(specifically 1 blade vs 2).  your hair also needs to be shortened in the nape & let the length grow on top(utilizing the proper texturing)

also, the keys to growing hair fast.
1.exercise & eat. the more nutrients your body can't use, they automatically find thier way into your hair & nails. you could take supplements, ask any woman thats been on prenatals.
2.develop a habit of massaging your head vigorously in the shower(really feel your scalp & muscles move)& @ night just befor you go to bed. remember, the key to growing hair fast is blood to the scalp.
