QuoteReplyTopic: Jet Set #21 & #614 are too Yellow!!! Posted: May 09 2008 at 1:21pm
Hi ladies -- hey, can i get some advice? I decided to go more of a white blonde and was super excited after reading a lot of the previous messages about how non-yellow the #21 & #614 are from Jet Set --
When I opened up the package today i was shocked to see how yellow they are......
Has anyone recently ordered these colors and experienced this? I'm not sure if to contact them about this ?
Longhairaddict had previously posted a pic a long time back of their #21 and it was GORGEOUSLY beige, NOTHING like what i just received...
Thanks for any advice!

thanks for responding --- i doublechecked the tags and they do stay #21 & #614. I havent taken any pics yet of them (at work), but will try tonite. Honestly, tho, these extensions look like a 'typical' #613 that ive gotten in the past -- -(which is NOT bad, but i'm really wanting that beigy blonde look instead)

Dharma: I'm sorry to hear about that tone surprise! I just hate that. I'm always looking for beigy or white hair and it's hard to find. I say just take both of those pieces and wash them with a violet shampoo, then deep condition them with a violet-toned conditioner. This will definitely work to cut the yellow. I hear JetSet is beautiful hair though!
Redken makes an awesome conditioner called PEARL it Works fantastic, you can get the gold out in a few seconds with this stuff, i use it on my own hair, my extension hair and on clients all the time. you will love it, leave it on about a min and it will look great.
Bringing beauty, one head at a time...

I have ordered the light blond colors from Jet Set before and they are always chicken yellow. They need to be toned down.
To tone I use
Redken Shades EQ in Platinum Ice mixed equal parts with the dedicated developer. You need to watch it after you apply, since it only takes a few minutes to process and if you leave it on too long it will go gray.
Once it's toned though it stays that way. I think it's more effective then the purple shampoos.
I agree w/everyone's advice actually! The Redken Pearl (I have this) is great and so is the Shimmer Lights (little cheaper!).
The Redken Shades EQ is a great idea as well. I have heard that it is a better idea to mix the Platinum Ice or any of the Level 9 colours half and half with clear so you can leave them on full time without them going off tone. If you mix it straight up with 20 vol. it will go gray pretty fast. Also, the colour lasts for less time if you take it off too quickly.
Redken Shades EQ is never mixed with 20 volume peroxide. It is considered a demi permanent color, which means no ammonia in the tint and a low level of peroxide. I believe the volume of the Shades EQ developer is around 7 volume.
Oh man...I'm sorry, I did not mean to say 20 vol. --- duh!!! Thanks Metalgirl. That's an important correction. Please use the dedicated developer (everything else I said still stands though!!!LOL!)
Love clip-ins and tape!

I guess the reason i'm so bummed about this is b/c the previous picture of #21 (from jetset) that longhairaddict posted was beautiful!! without any yellow... (but then again, i think that was a couple years ago) LOL

You know...pictures are deceiving! They are often taken with flash, which makes them brighter and bluer, it seems. Also, depending on what the background of the picture is (like a black wall) it can reflect onto hair and make it appear more ashy. Believe me, I have been deceived a few times! This is another reason why I don't put much stock in pictures of hair on the Internet (good or bad quality-wise) because just about any hair can look great in a picture.
