I wash and condition my hair twice a week. Here's my routine.

First, while taking a shower, saturate your hair with warm water. Warm water opens up your hair's pores and allows your hair follicles to relax and lean in their trained hair grain directions. Then brush vigorously with a hard brush for at least 5 minutes. Next, apply an ample amount of shampoo and wash your hair in all directions. This will not hurt your wave pattern, but will provide superior hair cleaning. Temporarily distrubing your wave pattern doesn't have a substantive negative effect on your waves. It is important to remember that regular brushing creates a wave pattern and wave compression through product, wave cap and durag usage sets the pattern. That being mentioned, don't be apprehensive to wash and condition your hair against the grain. Next, brush your hair with your hard brush, with the shampoo in, for at least 5 minutes and then rinse your hair. Next apply your conditioner, in all directions, and brush with your hard brush for at least 5 minutes. Put in a little more conditioner with your hands, with the grain. This will replenish some off the conditioner that was raked out of your hair while you were brushing. After this put a shower cap on your head for 10-15 minutes. The heat and humidity created by your shower cap will help the conditioner deeply penetrate your hair strands and make your hair softer and easier to manage. This is often referred to as deep conditioning. I use this time to take my shower. After 10-15 minutes take off your shower cap and brush for additional 5 plus minutes and then rinse your hair with cool to lukewarm water. This will allow your hair follicles to contract and hold your hair in its laid down positions. Exit the shower and towel dry your hair enough that it isn't wet or damp, but slighty moist. Apply your product(s) of choice and brush it/them in with a softy, or a medium if wolfin, for at least five minutes. Clean your forehead and face, brush down your hairline and put on your wave cap(s) and/or durag.

It kinda sounds like short hair version of
something I ran across in the long hair forums.
except that the other method you leave it in
over night. Its called the baggy method or
sumthin like that. Really good stuff.
I'm gonna try em both.

Thanks, TSOH.
